Machine intelligence evolves much faster than biological intelligence, making it the ideal candidate for interstellar exploration. AI does not suffer from the limitations of biological life, such as the need for nutrients or the effects of microgravity.

Mars, the next frontier for space exploration, presents challenges that AI is uniquely equipped to handle. Autonomous spacecraft powered by AI can navigate, make decisions, and communicate with Earth without the delays inherent in human space travel. Loeb emphasizes the advantages of AI in space exploration, stating, "It’s better to use an AI brain than a human brain you force to survive under unusual conditions."

The potential for AI to travel vast distances and encounter alien life raises intriguing possibilities. If we send an AI probe to a distant planet, it might communicate with beings who, like us, believed they were alone in the universe. In such a scenario, we would become the aliens.
